Abstract

Biskra city is widely known for its mineral water spring “Hammam Salihine” that consists of hot thermal water. The latter is characterized by a large proportion of sulphur, chlorine, sodium and magnesium. Given these characteristics, this thermal water has been used as an efficient cure for many skin diseases. Accordingly, Biskra city has become a destination for medical treatment thanks to the presence of this natural sanatorium. In addition to that, the warm weather of the city, which is a combination of spring and autumn, besides its breath-taking landscapes have encouraged the wealthy and European traders who were tired of the cold winter in their countries, to pay the city a visit seeking comfort and cure.
