Abstract

Since the reformation, the government has paid serious attention to women’s involvement as men in guarding, taking and supervising the public policies by issuing affirmative action policies. The affirmative action policy requires every political party participating in the state election that a minimum quota of 30 percent of female candidates can be fulfilled at the time of candidacy, but after competing in the election contest the results are still far from what was expected. This research aims to identify, inventory and systematize the factors that cause women to not optimally win competitions in political positions. This research also aims to criticize and find new innovations in the model of political party regeneration to be more gender sensitive and fair. Field data were collected by means of Focus Group Discussions and in-depth interviews with religious leaders and potential legislative members (caleg).
