This study investigates whether the operation of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road to improve the welfare of the Indonesian people is a realistic goal or merely a pipe dream. This research is normative legal research using secondary data sources gleaned from a literature review, and it is prescriptive in nature. Several prior studies on the effects of the operation of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road are indicated by the findings. This research will focus on the study of the operationalization of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road from the perspective of positive impacts as opportunities that can be maximized, as well as minimizing the potential for the emergence of inhibiting factors as concrete forms of challenges that must be confronted based on the study's perspective (economic, social, and legal) that have direct contact with community life.
