The values accompanying religious discourse in Umayyad poetry

Abstract

Islam and its spiritual principles and moral values contributed to the revival of the poetic arts and the expansion of their fields. Religious values had an effective impact in developing poetry through words that contain the meanings of true Islam, and the suggestive ,meanings of Islamic ideas and their impact on the Arab self and its Islamic faith. Of course ,the Umayyad poets who memorized the Holy Qur’an used to recite it every day in their prayers and those around them were preachers and storytellers admonishing them, directing them to their Lord, and casting fear in their hearts because of His torment and punishment.
