Some philosophers are crucial sources of reference in the worldwide philosophy of music instruction. German philosopher Immanuel Kant (1724–1804) is one of them. Despite the complexity of his theory, a simplistic interpretation of it made him the "bad guy" in worldwide music education philosophy because, for example, he supported art for its own sake.
