The existence of bots and phony profiles raises additional risks to the theft of personal information. Programs known as "bots" are designed to collect user data without the user's knowledge. We call this technique "web scraping." The fact that this behavior is lawful is even worse. On social media platforms, bots can be concealed or pose as friends in order to obtain personal data.
