In order to complement the Operating Systems course, the article offers a survey on cloud platforms appropriate for a virtual online laboratory using Linux online environments. In contrast to using pre-made IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) cloud services from providers, the study supports the decision to create specifically tailored cloud environments tailored for educational needs
