Blasting and drilling are the main units activities related to opencast mining. Despite all of the attempts to mechanize opencast mines, blasting still accounts for the majority of output. Therefore, it is necessary to obtain optimum fragmentation from a correctly planned blasting pattern in order to save manufacturing costs. Optimization of these parameters is crucial since the proper use of drilling and blasting may greatly increase profitability.
