The gender based violence is not something new in the history of civilization. There has been violence in every part of the history of mankind. With the origin and growth of mankind, violence in one form or the other existed. The term gender based violence implies violence which is targeted at women. The violence against women stems from their weak and subordinate position in the society. The difference is also because of the power inequality between men and women.
